Spurred on by Stray FM's announcements throughout the week it looked like the whole of Bilton turned out and enjoyed a host of events, attractions and new stalls. The parade got underway from Meadowcroft at 12.30 and was bigger than ever before, featuring floats, vintage vehicles (including a 1935 Austin 10 Lichfield, 1953 Talbot Sunbeam, 1954 Austin A30 and more), even a fire engine and a digger. Activities in the main arena got under way at 1.30 with the official crowning of the 2007 Gala Queen, 11 year old Amy Frost. Amy along with the Mayor and Phil Willis MP then judged the children’s fancy dress. The entertainment included the worlds strongest woman with her unbelievable feats of strength. Could you tear a yellow pages in half from top to bottom? A completely new Bird of Prey Show from Falconry UK drew gasps of amazement from the crowd as the magnificent birds soared and swooped around the arena. The younger ones really enjoyed the Punch and Judy show and the New Park School Maypole Dancers put on a lovely, traditional display. Bouncy castles, slides, obstacles courses as well as a bungee run as well as go-cart and miniature steam train rides provided hours of fun for all. |
